As the education landscape continues to evolve in complexity, educational leaders need modern strategies to navigate these changes effectively. In response, a pivotal workshop titled ‘Systems Leadership: Navigating Complexity for Educational Excellence’ was held at the Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels in Dwarka on September 20, 2024. Organised by Singapore Institute of Management Global Education (SIM GE), the event aimed to equip educational leaders with systems-based tools to address modern educational challenges.

The event was led by Dr. Timothy Chan, Vice Provost of Academic Services at SIM GE, a thought leader with 35 years of experience in academic innovation. Addressing participants, Dr. Chan emphasised the importance of adopting a systems leadership approach in education. “The modern education system is highly complex, and institutions need to foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation to succeed in this environment,” said Dr. Chan.
Relevance to Indian Higher Education
With India’s education sector rapidly growing, SIM GE’s workshop aligns well with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which calls for educational institutions to focus on lifelong learning, technological integration, and sustainability. Dr. Chan stressed the importance of agility and responsiveness in higher education institutions to meet the future needs of both students and society. “We need to develop students with skills relevant to the future workforce, while also instilling a culture of lifelong learning,” he said.

Along with this, we are also looking for institutions that can deliver SIM Diploma programmes, of 12-15 months in a blended model at their campus as a recognised Overseas Teaching Centre of SIM GE. These partnerships will allow students to access world-class education at an affordable cost,” she said. Ms. Vatsa also spoke about plans to introduce SIM Diploma programmes in India through blended learning models at the Indian institution campus, enabling students to seamlessly transition from diploma programmes to undergraduate degrees from SIM GE’s overseas partner universities. She asserted that global exposure, high-quality education, and enhanced career prospects at an affordable cost are some of the other factors that can motivate Indian students to consider SIM GE degrees under TNE partnerships in Singapore.
