नई दिल्ली: Pune Police detained Manorama Khedkar, mother of controversial IAS officer Puja Khedkar, on Thursday.
Police had been searching for Manorama and her husband Dilip after an FIR was filed against them and five others following the emergence of a video showing Manorama allegedly threatening individuals with a gun over a land dispute.
They face charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including section 323 (dishonest or fraudulent removal or concealment of property) and the Arms Act.
The case was registered days after a video surfaced on social media showing Manorama, accompanied by security guards, engaged in a heated argument while holding a pistol in Dhadwali village, Pune’s Mulshi tehsil.
IAS officer Puja Khedkar has been embroiled in controversy regarding her claims about disability and OBC certificates during her IAS clearance, as well as her conduct while posted in the Pune collector’s office.
Amid the controversy, the government placed Khedkar’s ‘district training program’ on hold and summoned her back to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration for “necessary action.”
Khedkar was transferred to Washim as a supernumerary assistant collector from Pune after senior officials received a report from Diwase regarding her alleged demands for unauthorized facilities as a trainee IAS officer and her occupation of a senior official’s ante-chamber.
