NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has opened the registration process for the 2024 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. Starting from October 30, eligible candidates can apply for PhD admissions via the official portal at ignouadm.samarth.edu.in. Applicants are required to pay a registration fee of Rs 1,000.
To register, candidates must first visit the official IGNOU admission website and select the ‘New Registration’ option under the applicant login portal. After creating an account using their name and password, candidates will receive their username via email and SMS. They can then log in to complete the application form, upload the required documents, and make the necessary payment. Upon successful submission, candidates are advised to download and save the confirmation page.
Required Documents for IGNOU PhD Admission 2024
Candidates must provide various documents to apply, including their birth certificate, academic transcripts, caste or income certificates (if applicable), and UGC NET-JRF or NET scorecards. A passport-sized photo and signature in scanned format are also mandatory.
Eligibility Criteria for Admissio
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 55 per cent marks, though reserved category candidates are eligible with 50 per cent. A valid UGC NET score with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or only a UGC NET score is also required. Applicants must adhere to India’s Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) norms and follow reservation policies for research programmes.
The IGNOU PhD admission portal will remain open for a limited time, encouraging prospective candidates to apply early.
