This year, 50 teachers from 28 states, 3 Union Territories, and 6 organisations have been selected for the prestigious awards through a rigorous, transparent three-stage selection process that included district, state, and national levels. The awardees, comprising 34 male and 16 female teachers, include 2 differently-abled individuals and 1 teacher working with children with special needs (CWSN).
In addition to school teachers, 16 teachers from the Department of Higher Education and 16 from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be conferred with this prestigious award. In 2023, two award categories were added to the list for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Polytechnics under the National Awards to Teachers (NAT), which was earlier limited to school teachers.
