NEW DELHI: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was hospitalized on Wednesday in Paris, just minutes after being disqualified from the women’s 50kg freestyle final at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
According to reports, the 29-year-old fainted due to dehydration after being disqualified for being 100 grams overweight during the weigh-in.
Vinesh Phogat, who made history on Tuesday by becoming the first woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final, faced an unfortunate turn of events.She was preparing for the Olympic Gold medal bout but missed the crucial weigh-in mark on the second day of competition.
